Q: Is the cap shipped assembled?
A: No, the cap is shipped disassembled. You have to assemble and glue the sides and the top panels together.

Q: What exactly do I have to assemble?
A: Each side and the top is one piece.  All the pieces are notched and cut to fit together precisely and only one way. You have to glue the sides and top together. Glue is included with the kit. See the instructions for more information.

Q: Do I have to trim or cut anything?
A: You should not need to cut anything. You may have to trim the edge of the cap side to contour the top edge of the attic floor. Cap material is pre-scored to make it easy.  See the instructions for more information.

Q: Will the cap fit other stair than specified?
A: No, the caps are manufactured to fit the specified models. Use our generic sizes to fit stairs not specified.

Q: What is holding the cap over the opening?
A: The cap is held down by its own weight; there are no hold downs on the cap. Caps manufactured specifically for Calvert Stairs TM, and fit snugly inside of the stair’s frame.
