Q: Can they
be used to access loft or attached to a wall?
A: Yes, they can be attached
any vertical surface, but keep in mind that the stairs will project about two feet in front of the wall and will be visible.
There is no handrail on stairs and none is available.
Q:
Do you make custom door, have plans or sell materials for the door? A:
No stairs are sold without doors, we do not make or sell door for these models.
Q: What can I use to make the door? A: Any suitable materials,
such as plywood. Door should be light, if it is too heavy it will be difficult to manipulate.
Q: Do I attach the door to the stairs? A:
No. Typically cover door will be attached with hinges to the ceiling and has to open down. Cover can not be attached to the
stairs.
Q: How do I open the stairs, are they easy to use?
A: After cover door is opened, user will swing down the stairs using
pull down rod, included, than you have to be able to reach the stairs with you hand and pull down. Stairs are not spring assisted
and have to be manually pushed up and pulled down. User has to be able to lift about 15 lb. To close the stairs.
Q: Can I insulate the cover door? A:
You can do anything you want with the cover door. Door and ladder are not attached together.
Q: What is the biggest opening I can have to install the stairs? A: Anything large than minimum required will work. Just keep in mind very large cover door will
be heavy. If you can try to use one of our other stairs that are supplied with door and frame.
Q: Are models for existing opening similar to aluminum telescopic stairs series 2000
or metal telescopic stairs series 6000? A: The may look similar, but
that is about it. There is a big difference in size between models 3040 - 3042 ( ladder weight is 35 lbs.) and 2000 series
stairs ( ladder weight is 130 lbs.). The steel telescopic stairs, 6000 series, are between the two types.
Q: How strong are the stairs? A:
When in use, stairs do not sway from side to side, they will bow down a little when climbed on.
